On psychometrics and scale development: the example of the S-Five
Streszczenie:
Psychometrics is the field of study which provides the mathematical underpinnings for psychological assessment. From the early days of the 19th where the key ideas of the classical test theory were born, to today’s advanced generalised linear latent variable models, researchers have been attempting to measure effectively unobserved, latent traits. In this talk we discuss the key ideas of psychometrics, the main points of consideration on item and scale development and present the to do list for a full psychometric assessment. Advanced statistical methods are briefly discussed, and an example of a scale development is presented. In particular, the development of the S-Five scale for misophonia is explained step by step, and results are presented.
